Beautiful Music for French Horn and Voice

Saturday, Jun. 3, 2017, 2:00 pm

Admission: By Donation

Ginni Keith, Soprano, and Patty Johnson, Piano, are musicians well known on Lopez. They will be joined by Nels Magelssen, French horn, for a fascinating program of music for the French horn, soprano and piano.

The program will include lots of old favorites, such as the "Ave Maria" of Gounod. Contemporary works that may be new for you will include 3 movements from "Serenade" for voice and French horn by English composer Benjamin Britten. Britten wrote this beautiful work for his domestic partner, Tenor Peter Pears, and legendary French horn soloist, Dennis Brian. Timeless English poets, including Tennyson, provide the texts.
Another English Poet, Edna St. Vincent Millay, inspired Indian composer Simon Sargon to write a gorgeous rendition of "Huntsman, what quarry?"

Don't miss it this wonderful concert!
