A powerful and thought-provoking documentary that explores the intertwined fate of the Lower Snake River, endangered salmon runs, and Washington’s Southern Resident orcas. Through history, investigation, and deeply personal stories, the film examines the legacy of four dams on the Lower Snake River and their far-reaching impacts on ecosystems, wildlife, and communities across the Pacific Northwest. With only 73 Southern Resident orcas remaining, The Snake and the Whale asks urgent questions about what it will take to protect one of the region’s most iconic species.

Free and open to the public.
